A 23yr old male Pt was admitted at arthros at Sahaj hospital Indore with a history of pain,swelling and difficulty in walking. Pt gave a history of road traffic accident from a bike on 28/02/2015 i.e. 20 days ago.Pt was then admitted at apex hospital dewas n then referred to Sidharth hospital aashtha. Owing to the complexity of the case Pt was finally referred to arthros joint care centre Indore.
Here senior joint replacement and arthroscopy surgeon Dr.Vinay Tantuway after examination of the Pt suggested an MRI. The MRI revealed posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) and Lateral collateral ligament (LCL) tear along with a torn patellar tendon.
Management: The Pt was successfully managed by Dr. Vinay Tantuway by performing an arthroscopic reconstruction of PCL, LCL repair and patellar tendon repair.
The Pt was kept non weight bearing for 6weeks post surgery along wid brace. During this phase pt started isometric exercises for quads, hams and VMO.Then after 6 weeks gradual mobilisation and active exercises were started to regain active ROM.currently the Pt is walking independently and undergoing intense muscle strengthening.
